Grand Forks is a picturesque community of 4000 people, located in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, in what is commonly known as the Boundary Country, a region found between the Okanagan Valley and the Kootenays.
The hub of the Boundary Country, Grans Forks, is strategically located on the Canada/US border, 522 km (326 mi) east of Vancouver and 726 km (454 mi) west of Calgary, Alberta.
Access is via the Crowsnest Highway #3, Grand Forks Airport and two border crossings, one located approximately 20 km (12.5 mi) east and one approximately 8 km west of Grand Forks. Christina Lake, located 20 km east, is the warmest tree-lined lake in Canada. It is known as a popular summer recreational site.
Basking in 2000 hours of sunshine annually, with four distinct seasons, Grand Forks is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. The Trans Canada Trail goes through the middle of the city. Close by is access to the Kettle Valley Railway Bicycle Trail.
The economic base for the region is diverse with forestry, agriculture, mining, and recreational tourism. Culture in Grand Forks is enriched by its prominent Doukhobor heritage, a healthy arts community and a large number of historical homes. Spokane, Vancouver and Kelowna are easily accessed urban centres.
